NIFTY 50 — Today’s Game Plan

Nifty closed around 24,091 on August 27 after another 0.5% decline. Moneycontrol’s technical setup highlights continued weakness, with the index below key moving averages and bearish momentum indicators.

Important Levels

Immediate Support:

  • 24,000
  • 23,950
  • 23,800

Immediate Resistance:

  • 24,200–24,300
  • 24,400
  • 24,500

Moneycontrol’s pivot levels are around 24,239 / 24,287 / 24,366 on the upside and 24,081 / 24,032 / 23,953 on the downside.

Options Data

The 24,300 Call has the highest weekly Call OI at about 1.32 crore contracts, followed by 24,500 and 24,400. On the Put side, 24,000 has the highest OI at around 71.05 lakh contracts, making the 24,000–24,300 zone extremely important.

My Reading

24,000 is the key battlefield.

  • Above 24,300 → 24,400 can become the next upside zone.
  • Sustained move above 24,400 can improve the structure.
  • Below 24,000 → 23,800 becomes vulnerable.
  • Avoid blindly trading inside 24,000–24,300 because this is likely to remain choppy.

Moneycontrol also notes that consolidation could continue until Nifty decisively trades above 24,400.

BANK NIFTY — Key Levels

Bank Nifty closed around 57,510.

Support

  • 57,485
  • 57,367
  • 57,175
  • 57,000

Resistance

  • 57,869
  • 57,988
  • 58,180
  • 58,300–58,400

The 57,500 strike carries significant Call and Put OI, making it an important pivot zone.

Moneycontrol’s broader technical view also places 57,250–57,200 as an important support area and 58,300–58,400 as major resistance.

Trading Bias

57,200–57,250 = crucial support

58,300–58,400 = breakout zone

Until either side breaks decisively, expect range-bound and choppy movement.

PCR & VIX

Your Capital Cents sheet shows:

  • PCR: 1.04
  • Max Pain: 24,350
  • India VIX: 11.07

Moneycontrol’s August 27 closing data had Nifty PCR at 0.77, while VIX rose 4.76% to 11.07.

So for today’s pre-market framework, the important point is:

Volatility is still relatively subdued, but traders should not confuse low VIX with low risk.

A low-volatility environment can still produce sharp directional moves once important levels break.

Global & Macro View

The Capital Cents sheet shows positive/firm global cues with GIFT Nifty at 24,266.50, while Asian markets such as Nikkei and Hang Seng are also in focus. Crude is around $83.17 and USD/INR around 95.54.

The macro backdrop is mixed:

Positive

  • Supportive domestic liquidity from DIIs
  • Low VIX
  • GIFT Nifty indicating a mildly positive start

IPO & Market Outlook

Anand Rathi Advisors’ Samir Bahl expects IPO activity to remain strong, with around 140 companies holding valid SEBI observations as of August 25, 2026, representing a potential pipeline of over ₹2.21 lakh crore.

He also expects double-digit earnings growth in FY27, supported by domestic demand, credit growth, investment activity and improving operating leverage. Risks include crude prices, geopolitical tensions and global trade uncertainty.

This is important because it suggests that despite short-term index consolidation, the broader corporate earnings and IPO pipeline backdrop remains active.
